Colourful Stories

My work attracts attention because of the bright colours and the ‘stories’ which I create while painting on paper and canvas, in a variety of formats.
Being both an artist and an anthropologist, I am inspired by what is alien and far away.
I identify with the colours of exotic cultures.
When starting a painting I have a rough idea of what it should look like. But this often changes while painting. As a painting progresses, instinctive adventures develop.
Most of my works do not have a title. Spectators are given the freedom to create their own story.
In addition to paintings, I create objects, such as plates, boxes and books.
I have been an artist for many years. My work can be found in various business premises, in art exchange programmes and in many private collections, both in the Netherlands and abroad.

KLEURRIJKE VERHALEN

In mijn werk staan vrijheid en onderzoek naar het bekende en onbekende centraal.

Wat zich op mijn pad aandient, schilder ik.

De laatste jaren waren dat vooral; bergen, bomen, de kosmos, huizen, boten,vissen, luchtballonnen, bloemen, poezen en vogels.

Ik begin elk schilderij met een ondergrond van allerlei kleuren door elkaar.

Daarna ga ik ordenen en ontstaan er laag over laag, langzamerhand vormen, kleuren en verhalen.

Naast schilderijen maak ik ruimtelijke vormen zoals boeken, doosjes, schalen, torens, boten en sieraden.

Het meeste werk heeft geen titel, zodat de toeschouwer zijn of haar eigen verhaal kan maken.
